Great photos sell your trip: Here's how AI can help you improve your photos

When someone books an outing online, they’re buying something they haven’t experienced yet. Your guest can’t yet get a feel for the atmosphere, try out the activity, or know how much fun they’ll have with their group.

So your photos need to do some of that work for you. Yet we still often see websites and booking modules with outdated photos, empty spaces, or extras that aren't presented in an appealing way.

That's a shame, because just when someone is ready to book, a good image can give them that final push.

Great photos sell your trip

Take a critical look at what your guest sees

Open your own website as if you've never been there before.

Do the photos immediately make you want to book the activity? Do you see enthusiastic people, action, and a lively atmosphere? Or do you mainly see a space, some equipment, and photos that just happened to be available at the time?

Next, do the same thing in your booking module.

That’s exactly where visuals come into play. A guest has already decided to make a reservation and is then shown activities, packages, and extras. A snack platter, lunch, drink package, or extra activity becomes more appealing when someone immediately thinks, “Yeah, that looks good. I’ll add that.”

Sell the experience, not just the product

An empty escape room isn't as appealing as a group of people enthusiastically trying to solve a puzzle. A row of bicycles isn't as compelling as a group of friends who are clearly having fun on their ride.

The same goes for upsells. A simple photo of a bowl of bitterballen is quite different from an appealing appetizer platter on the table after a successful activity.

So don't just show what someone is getting—show, above all, what it's like to experience it.

This applies to your main activities as well as the extras you select when booking.

Don't have a good photo? AI can help

A professional photographer remains a valuable asset. But organizing a new photo shoot every time there’s a new upsell, promotion, or limited-time offer isn’t always practical.

AI makes it easier to enhance existing images or create new versions.

For example, do you already have a good photo of your boat, bike, activity, or location? If so, you can ask an AI tool to:

  • to resize the photo for a wide website banner;

  • to place more emphasis on the main product;

  • to improve lighting, sharpness, or composition;

  • to make the presentation of food or drinks more appealing;

  • create different versions for you to choose from.

That way, photography doesn't become something you only look at once every few years. It's much easier to keep improving your photos.

Be sure to give AI a thorough briefing

Just saying “take a photo of a company outing” doesn’t give the AI much to go on.

Instead, describe what you would normally tell a photographer: who do you see, what are they doing, where are they, what kind of atmosphere do you want, and what will you use the photo for?

For example:

Take a realistic horizontal photo of six coworkers enthusiastically working together during an indoor activity. The atmosphere is spontaneous, friendly, and slightly competitive. Capture natural facial expressions and a professional event photography look.

Even better: use a photo of your actual location or product as a starting point.

Make your offer more appealing, but stay honest

AI offers many possibilities, but your guest still needs to recognize what they saw online upon arrival.

So don’t suddenly make a small boat twice as luxurious, and don’t turn a simple lunch into a lavish buffet. A more appealing presentation is fine. But don’t promise an experience you can’t deliver.

Therefore, always check generated images carefully before using them.

Just start with one activity

You don't have to become an AI specialist. These days, you can easily experiment with image generation and image editing using well-known AI tools.

Pick one of your most popular activities. Then take a look at an additional product you offer during the booking process. Could the images be improved?

If you use LeisureKing, you can add images to your listings yourself and offer additional products during the online booking process. So creating a good impression doesn’t end with your homepage: it’s actually during the booking process that you can present activities and upsells in an appealing way.

Take the image check today

Try walking through the entire customer journey yourself: from the homepage to completing a reservation.

For every important image, ask yourself: Does this excite me? Do I see the actual experience? Does this still align with what we’re currently offering? Would I book this extra myself?

Do you come across photos that you've been thinking for a while now need to be replaced? Then you've just found your first AI project.

High-quality images aren’t just window dressing for your website or booking module. They’re an integral part of your sales process. And now that it’s becoming easier to enhance photos and create new versions, this is a good time to take a critical look at what your guests actually see.
