Ticket shops on boulevards are shutting down en masse!

Posted on Thursday, March 9, 2017

It is April 1, 2020, and you are walking along the promenade of your vacation village. The stores have remained largely the same over the years. Souvenir shops, eateries, ice cream stands and an English pub fill the streetscape. You only miss one kind of store: the one where you used to book your activities. If you walked in there there was always someone, a man or woman, sitting there from 9 a.m. until late at night. Always waiting for tourists, who spontaneously or specifically wanted to do a fun activity during their vacation. You might have booked a tour boat there to watch dolphins or rented a car to explore the area. Booking such an activity would always take about 20 minutes. And you were given a written receipt as proof that you had paid. The next day you were picked up at your hotel, your receipt was your ticket and the adventure could begin.

But where have those ticket shops gone in 2020 anyway? First things first: isn't it strange that you leave your hotel and walk on a boulevard looking for a shop where you can buy tickets for activities? Of course, it is not weird to walk on a boulevard, but at the reception of your hotel you may have also asked where to rent a car or what activities you can do in the area. So why can't you handle this at the front desk? Why do you have to go to another location to book activities? Why can't the front desk staff book or reserve the ticket or activity for you? Surely they have already given you information?

Another example that may be much more imaginative now: in 2006 (yes, it wasn't that long ago, mind you), when you went on vacation, you booked your trip through a travel store. You would get advice on which hotel would suit you and the employees would search through thick books of travel suppliers with you for the right vacation destination. Once on your trip, you were welcomed by the tour guide at the hotel and given a welcome drink with, of course, a sales pitch about activities and excursions in the area. Not to mention the necessary advice on where to safely rent a car. With the tour company you booked the tickets for activities you wanted to do, because this was safer (and often more expensive, but we took that for granted). Nowadays you buy your tickets easily through a ticket shop. Meanwhile, the world has changed and travel agencies have disappeared from the scene....

But soon the ticket shops will no longer be there either, because tickets for activities (from attractions to your rental car) will simply be arranged through the hotel reception or through the reception clerk at the campsite. You will soon book your tickets online through the site of your lodging or cruise ship. You buy ready-made packages in advance including a bike, activity and theme park ticket.

With the Front Office app of RentSeeDo.com, a marketing platform of LeisureKing, this is already possible. There are already many hotels and bungalow parks selling tickets of local attractions, museums and activities to their guests through this app. The location itself decides which tickets it wants to offer and makes the commission deal itself, creating a revenue model. The Front Office app is easy to use and is seen as the gamechanger in reception and ticket land.

Enjoy the promenade and your vacation and soon arrange all your activities easily and quickly through your stay or in advance through www.RentSeeDo.com.
